Dates have been set for the Classic Stage Company production of The Forest, starring Dianne Wiest. The play, in a new translation by Kathleen Tolan and directed by Brian Kulick will begin performances on April 23 at CSC with its official opening set for May 6. The Forest also stars Obie Award-winning actor John Douglas Thompson (The Emperor Jones, Othello).
The Forest is a romantic romp, where the most dangerous creatures in the forest are two vagabond actors, posing as gentry, who crash a nearby estate, turning an orderly manor upside down.
In addition to Wiest and Thompson, the cast also includes Adam Driver, Quincy Dunn-Baker, Herb Foster, Lisa Joyce, Lizbeth MacKay, George Morfogen, John Christopher Jones and Tony Torn.
The production will feature scenic design by Santo Loquasto, lighting design by Kaczorowski, costumes design by Marco Piemontese and original music and sound design by Christian Frederickson and Ryan Rumery.
The Forest is set to play a limited engagement at CSC through May 30. The company’s current production, David Ives’ Venus in Fur, will play through March 28.
